Thanks to everyone who participated in the first Newton Idol contest. We had a ton of great local talent perform and we're so pleased with the first Newton Idol.

Lonnie Appleby won the first Newton Idol contest with 33 percent of the vote cast. He will appear in the Fourth of July parade and perform at the Iowa Speedway on Aug. 10.
